Metro soccer championship games sees Gretna girls, boys take home titles

The third time is the charm for the metro soccer championship games. They were originally scheduled for Monday, then Tuesday, but were pushed to Wednesday night because of weather.In girls, the championship saw 10-0 Marian take on defending champion 10-0 Gretna.There was no score in the first half but that would change early in the second half. Senior Chaley French would change getting the goal to give the Dragons the 1-0 lead.Then in the closing moments, another scramble broke out and it was Addison Larock with the goal making it 2-0 Gretna.The Dragons would knock off Marian 2-0 and take home back-to-back metro tournament titles.In boys, it was Gretna taking on Papio South. There was no score midway through the first half but Colin Mcclung would send a rocket to the back of the net, giving the Dragons the 1-0 lead. Then, with about three minutes left in the first half, it was Maguire Perkins with the score. With that goal, the ball went completely through the net.Gretna would go on to defeat Papio South 2-0 and take home the metro title as well.
